1. What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file your browser stores on your device as you browse Extypis. Your browser's local storage is used in the same way to remember certain preferences.
Our commitment : Extypis uses a small number of cookies, strictly limited to what the service needs to run or to what you have consented to, in line with the GDPR and the ePrivacy Directive.
2. Categories of cookies we use
Exactly what the service stores on your device.
Essential cookies (no consent required)
These cookies are strictly necessary for the service to work and cannot be turned off (art. 82 of the French Data Protection Act).
- • Authentication : Secure session cookie handled by Better Auth (signed token, automatic expiry)
- • Currency detection : Remembers the currency detected from your country (EUR, USD, GBP)
- • Interface language : Remembers the language you picked (FR / EN)
- • Cookie consent : Stores your choice so we don't ask again on every visit
Functional cookies (no consent required)
These cookies remember your interface preferences so you don't have to set them up again. They are not used to identify or track you.
- • Sidebar state (collapsed or expanded)
- • Last project opened (so we can take you straight back to it next time)
Audience measurement (no consent needed)
This measurement runs from your first visit, on legitimate interest, under the conditions of the CNIL exemption (deliberation no. 2020-091): purpose limited to audience measurement, IP address removed, hosting in the European Union, no transfer to third parties. PostHog sets a browser identifier (ph_* cookie and local storage), kept for 12 months at most, that recognises the same browser from one visit to the next. When you are signed in, your usage statistics are linked to your account (see the privacy policy). You can object through “Manage cookies” at the bottom of every page: nothing is sent any more.
- • Purpose : Aggregated usage statistics (page views, features used, arrival source)
- • Location : PostHog EU instance (Frankfurt)
- • IP address : Removed before anything is recorded
- • Data : Events linked to a browser identifier, or to your internal identifier when you are signed in (never the content of your writing)
- • Retention : 25 months at most (per the CNIL exemption)
Session recording and heatmaps (with your consent in the EU)
In the European Union, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, these features are only turned on if you explicitly accept them in the banner. Elsewhere, no banner is shown: they are on by default, and you can turn them off through “Manage cookies”. They help us fix visual bugs and understand what gets in the way. Sensitive fields (emails, passwords, your writing) are always masked.
- • Purpose : Finding bugs and improving usability
- • Location : PostHog EU instance (Frankfurt)
- • Data : Internal user ID, navigation path, clicks, scrolling (never the content of your writing)
- • Retention : 12 months at most
- • Control : Can be refused at any time through “Manage cookies” at the bottom of every page
Advertising cookies (Meta)
We run ads on Facebook and Instagram. Two separate mechanisms exist, and they do not trigger under the same conditions.
Meta pixel in your browser — with your consent
The Meta pixel only loads once you explicitly accept marketing cookies in the banner. It then measures page views and signups, and lets Meta connect your visit to an ad you may have seen. Without that acceptance, it never loads.
Arriving from an ad — without prior consent
If you reach the site by clicking one of our ads, your browser carries a click identifier Meta appended to the address. We store that identifier in a cookie and report your arrival to Meta from our server, so we know which ads bring visitors. No writing content is ever sent, and a visit that does not come from an ad is never reported.
- • Purpose : Measuring how our ads perform (arrivals, signups)
- • Location : Meta Platforms Ireland Limited (Ireland); transfers outside the EU are covered by standard contractual clauses
- • Data : Ad click identifier, IP address, browser, landing page (never the content of your writing)
- • Retention : 90 days for the click identifier cookie
- • Control : Refuse the pixel at any time in the banner. For the click identifier, clear the site's cookies or write to us.
What we don't use
- No retargeting : We do not build audiences to follow you from site to site
- No social network cookies : No third-party share buttons tracking your visit
- No third-party ad networks : No Google Ads, no LinkedIn Insight Tag. Meta only, and only for our own ads (see above)
- No fingerprinting : No browser-fingerprint tracking
- No Google Analytics : Replaced by PostHog (EU)
3. Legal basis and consent
How we comply with the rules.
Essential and functional cookies — no consent needed
Under article 82 of the French Data Protection Act and CNIL guidance, cookies strictly necessary to run the service do not require prior consent.
Session recording and heatmaps — explicit consent
In the European Union, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, session recording and heatmaps (PostHog) are only turned on after your explicit consent in the banner. Audience measurement runs without consent under the conditions of the CNIL exemption, and stops if you refuse the options.
What our consent guarantees:
- • Freely given, and you can withdraw it at any time
- • Granular — you accept each category separately
- • Informed, thanks to this detailed policy
- • Unambiguous — it takes a positive action, a click on "Accept"
Advertising cookies — consent, except when you arrive from an ad
The Meta pixel requires explicit consent through the banner. The ad click identifier is only stored when you arrive by clicking one of our ads: that limited measurement tells us what our campaigns produce. You can object by writing to us, and clearing the site's cookies removes it.
