A cookie is a small text file your browser stores on your device as you browse Extypis. Your browser's local storage is used in the same way to remember certain preferences.
Our commitment : Extypis uses a small number of cookies, strictly limited to what the service needs to run or to what you have consented to, in line with the GDPR and the ePrivacy Directive.
2. Categories of cookies we use

Essential cookies (no consent required)
These cookies are strictly necessary for the service to work and cannot be turned off (art. 82 of the French Data Protection Act).
- • Authentication : Secure session cookie handled by Better Auth (signed token, automatic expiry)
- • Currency detection : Remembers the currency detected from your country (EUR, USD, GBP)
- • Interface language : Remembers the language you picked (FR / EN)
- • Cookie consent : Stores your choice so we don't ask again on every visit
Functional cookies (no consent required)
These cookies remember your interface preferences so you don't have to set them up again. They are not used to identify or track you.
- • Sidebar state (collapsed or expanded)
- • Last project opened (so we can take you straight back to it next time)
Anonymous audience measurement (no consent required)
This measurement runs by default on legitimate interest, under the CNIL exemption (decision no. 2020-091). No persistent cookie or lasting identifier is used: the statistics are aggregated across page views, traffic sources and user journeys. You can opt out from the banner ("Decline optional").
- • Purpose : Aggregated usage statistics (page views, features used, arrival source)
- • Location : PostHog EU instance (Frankfurt)
- • IP address : Always truncated, never stored in full
- • Data : Anonymized product events (never the content of your writing)
- • Retention : 25 months at most (per the CNIL exemption)
Session recording and heatmaps (with your consent)
These run only if you explicitly accept them from the banner. They help us fix visual bugs and understand where people get stuck. Sensitive fields (emails, passwords, your writing) are masked automatically.
- • Purpose : Finding bugs and improving usability
- • Location : PostHog EU instance (Frankfurt)
- • Data : Internal user ID, navigation path, clicks, scrolling (never the content of your writing)
- • Retention : 12 months at most
- • Control : You can opt out at any time from the consent banner
What we don't use
- No advertising cookies : No retargeting, no ad tracking
- No social network cookies : No third-party share buttons tracking your visit
- No third-party marketing cookies : No Google Ads, Facebook Pixel, LinkedIn Insight Tag or anything similar
- No fingerprinting : No browser-fingerprint tracking
- No Google Analytics : Replaced by PostHog (EU)

Essential and functional cookies — no consent needed
Under article 82 of the French Data Protection Act and CNIL guidance, cookies strictly necessary to run the service do not require prior consent.
Analytics cookies — explicit consent
Analytics cookies (PostHog) are switched on only after you explicitly consent through the banner shown on your first visit.
What our consent guarantees:

- • Granular — you accept each category separately
- • Informed, thanks to this detailed policy
- • Unambiguous — it takes a positive action, a click on "Accept"
