2. What you are buying
What the service includes, and what you need to run it.
The service
Extypis is an online writing platform you open in a web browser. It comes in two tiers: a Free tier with limited access, and a Premium tier with full access.

AI credits and usage-based billing
Every AI feature in Extypis — chat assistant, ghost completion, pitch generation, continuity check, back-cover copy, enriched dictionary and the rest — draws on a single counter called AI credits. Each AI operation deducts an amount proportional to what the underlying model actually costs.
- • Free account : 100 AI credits, granted once and never renewed. Enough to try the AI features at standard quality (Mistral and Llama models).
- • Premium, monthly : 2,500 AI credits, renewed at each monthly Stripe billing date (which follows your signup date, not the first of the calendar month). Unlocks higher editorial quality (Claude Sonnet) on the sensitive features.
- • Premium, yearly : 24,000 AI credits released in full on the first day of the subscription, free to use across the whole year with no intermediate monthly cap — use it or lose it, as described below.
- • Top-ups : packs of AI credits that users with an active subscription can buy separately, on top of the monthly or yearly quota. They stack with the regular quota and never expire while the account is active. They are drawn on second, once the regular quota runs out. Top-ups cannot be bought on the free tier; they become available as soon as you subscribe. Top-ups you already own remain usable if you later cancel (see section 7).
- • No automatic carry-over at renewal : regular quota credits left unused at the end of a cycle, monthly or yearly, are neither carried into the next cycle nor refunded. Top-up credits, by contrast, stay yours until you use them and survive every renewal.
Automatic rollover if you cancel or change plan
So that a subscriber who has paid for a cycle keeps what they paid for, unused regular quota credits are automatically converted into a free rollover top-up in the following cases:
- • Cancelling the subscription (before the renewal date): the credits left in the current cycle move to a top-up, with no expiry.
- • Changing plan (monthly to yearly or back, or moving up or down a tier): same thing — the current regular balance moves to a top-up before the new plan starts.
- • Overall cap : the total top-up balance (purchases plus rollover) is capped at 24,000 credits per user. Credits beyond that cap are not returned.
- • Where it does not apply : rollover does not apply to a normal automatic renewal, monthly or yearly. It exists only to protect you when the contract breaks or the plan changes.
Extra privacy for "Note" sheets
Sheets you explicitly mark as "Note" — a personal reminder — are never sent to AI providers, and never used as context by any AI feature. Strict filtering is applied on the server before any call goes out.
Adjusting the regular quota
The publisher reserves the right to reduce the regular AI credit quota included in the subscription, for technical or economic reasons or to prevent abuse, with reasonable notice — by email, at least 30 days — to the subscribers concerned. If you disagree, you may cancel free of charge before the change takes effect; unused credits from the current cycle then benefit from the rollover mechanism described above, calculated on the limit in force at the time of cancellation. Top-up credits you already own are unaffected.
The full list of AI models we use and their providers (Anthropic, Mistral, Cerebras, Groq, Google, OpenAI) is documented in the privacy policy (section 4). All of them are contractually bound not to use your content to train their models.

4. Placing an order and forming the contract

The contract is formed when Stripe confirms the payment. You receive a confirmation email with your subscription details and your invoice.

You can switch from monthly to yearly at any time. A credit proportional to the time left in your paid month is applied, and a new yearly billing cycle starts immediately.
Moving from yearly to monthly
Switching from yearly back to monthly is not available. Your yearly subscription stays active until its natural renewal date.
You can always cancel : You can cancel your subscription, monthly or yearly, at any time and free of charge. Access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for.
6. Free tier and right of withdrawal
The permanent free tier and withdrawal terms.
Permanent free tier
Extypis is permanently available free of charge with its essential features. That free tier means:
- • Permanent access : No time limit — your account stays active indefinitely
- • Essential features : Text editor, project management, bibliographic references, viewing snapshots
- • No card needed : No payment method required
- • No commitment : No obligation to move to a paid plan
Express waiver of the right of withdrawal
Under article L221-28 1° and 13° of the French Consumer Code, by taking out a paid Extypis subscription you expressly request immediate performance of the service and waive your 14-day right of withdrawal. This waiver is required so that paid features can be released immediately — in particular AI credits, which can be spent from the first second of the subscription.
Why the waiver is required
An Extypis subscription is digital content whose performance begins immediately after payment: full access to the premium features and AI credits made available. It therefore falls under article L221-28 of the French Consumer Code, which excludes the right of withdrawal for digital services that have been fully performed.
What the waiver means for you
By accepting immediate performance when you subscribe, you can no longer exercise the statutory 14-day right of withdrawal under French law. You do keep the right to cancel your subscription at any time, free of charge, from your account (see section 7).
Cancel any time, no commitment
You can cancel your subscription at any time, with no fee and no penalty. Your access stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for.
Exceptional refunds : If the service seriously malfunctions, or in exceptional circumstances, write to us at [email protected]. We look at every request individually and in good faith.
7. Cancellation and refunds
How to cancel, what access you keep, and our refund policy.
Cancelling your subscription
- • No commitment : Cancel at any time from your account
- • What happens : Access continues to the end of the paid period, then automatic renewal stops
- • Export : You can export all your projects before the subscription ends
- • Top-up credits are kept : top-up credits you bought, along with credits converted by rollover (see section 2), survive cancellation. The account returns to the free tier, but you can keep using AI features for as long as you have a top-up balance.
Deleting your account while subscribed
If you delete your account while a subscription is running:
- • No further charge is taken after you request deletion.
- • Access continues to the end of the paid period: you can keep using the service until your subscription expires.
- • No pro-rata refund is issued automatically for the unused period. Yearly subscriptions are owed in full for the period subscribed (article L221-28 of the French Consumer Code).
- • You can come back: your account and data stay available for 30 days after your subscription period expires. Simply sign in again with your email address to recover all your projects.
- • Permanent deletion: after that grace period, your data is erased irreversibly. Invoices are kept for 10 years, as required by article L123-22 of the French Commercial Code.
You can ask for immediate erasure of your data at any time under the GDPR (article 17) by writing to [email protected]. For a possible pro-rata refund of unused months, see the refund policy below.
Refund policy
No automatic refund is provided, in line with article L221-28 of the French Consumer Code covering digital services whose performance has begun.
When we do refund
A refund may be granted exceptionally in the following situations, on a reasoned request to [email protected]:
- • Serious service failure : Prolonged outage (more than 24 continuous hours) or unrecoverable data loss
- • Billing error : Double charge, wrong amount, or a technical mistake on our side
- • Exceptional circumstances : A serious, documented personal situation (medical, professional, and the like)
How to ask : Every request needs a detailed explanation of the situation and, where relevant, screenshots or supporting documents. Each one is reviewed individually within 7 business days. We aim to be fair and reasonable.
Buying AI credits (top-ups)
Top-up packs bought separately, on top of the quota included in your subscription, are digital content delivered immediately after payment, under article L221-28 13° of the French Consumer Code. Top-ups can only be bought by users with an active subscription. They are therefore non-refundable as soon as the credits reach the account. Unused credits give no right to a refund and cannot be converted into money or a discount. They have no expiry date and stay attached to the account while it is active.
If you cancel : top-up credits you bought survive cancellation of the subscription. You keep access to the AI features until the balance runs out, with no need to subscribe again. Once the balance is empty, AI access is suspended until you subscribe or buy more. Credits from the monthly subscription quota, by contrast, are not carried over: they end with the subscription.
If you delete your account : if you delete your account, AI credits — whether they came from the subscription or from packs bought separately, whatever the amount — are permanently lost once the 30-day grace period ends, and give no right to any refund, partial or full. We encourage you to spend your credits before requesting deletion.
8. Warranties and liability
The statutory warranties that apply, and where our liability stops.
Statutory warranties of conformity
Under articles L217-4 and following of the French Consumer Code, Extypis is subject to the statutory warranties of conformity and against hidden defects.
- • Warranty of conformity : The service must match its description and have the qualities announced
- • Warranty against hidden defects : Protection against hidden defects that make the service unfit for use
Limitations of liability
- • The service is provided as is, with no absolute guarantee of availability
- • We use every reasonable means to keep your data safe and backed up
- • We cannot be held liable in cases of force majeure or events beyond our control
- • Indirect damages give no right to compensation
9. Mediation and disputes
What you can do if you have a dispute with Extypis.
Settling it directly
If a dispute arises, we would rather settle it amicably. Write to us at [email protected] with any complaint.
Consumer mediation
Under article L612-1 of the French Consumer Code, if an amicable settlement fails you may refer the matter free of charge to a consumer mediator.

Competent courts
If mediation does not settle the dispute, the French courts have sole jurisdiction. French law applies.
10. Referral program
Terms of the referral program and email invitations.
10.1 How it works
Extypis offers a referral program that lets you earn AI credits by inviting other people to join. You can refer someone either by sharing a personal link containing a unique code, or by sending an email invitation to a specific contact from your dashboard.
10.2 Rewards
The rewards below are granted automatically and are indexed on the monthly quotas in force. The amounts may change as the service is reconfigured; rewards already granted keep the value they had when granted.
- Welcome bonus (for the person invited): AI credits granted when the account is created through a valid referral link or email invitation. Set at 40% of the free quota in force, rounded to the nearest ten (200 credits as things stand).
- Premium reward (for the referrer): AI credits granted when the person you referred takes out a paid subscription for the first time. Set at 50% of the premium monthly quota, rounded to the nearest hundred (1,000 credits as things stand).
10.3 What these rewards are
Credits earned through referrals are strictly personal, non-transferable, cannot be assigned to anyone else, are non-refundable and cannot be converted into money or any other monetary benefit. They have no expiry date and remain usable while the account is active.
10.4 Caps and limits
- At most 20 email invitations sent per 24 hours, per user.
- At most 100 invitations over the lifetime of an account.
- The same email address cannot be invited more than once by the same user.
- At least 7 days between two reminders to the same recipient.
10.5 What is not allowed
The following are strictly prohibited and lead to immediate account suspension and revocation of any credits wrongly obtained:
- Referring yourself — creating secondary accounts to award yourself rewards.
- Using fake or disposable email addresses, or automatically generated accounts.
- Sham purchases — subscribing then cancelling straight away to trigger the referrer reward.
- Mass-inviting contacts who have no prior relationship with the sender. The program is built for personal word of mouth, not for prospecting.
- Any misuse of the program for commercial or speculative purposes.
10.6 Changing or closing the program
Extypis reserves the right to change the terms of the program — amounts, caps, mechanics — or to close it at any time, with reasonable notice sent by email to the users concerned. Credits already granted at the time of the change or closure remain yours.

These terms may be changed at any time. Changes take effect after notice by email and acceptance at your next subscription or renewal.
