To carry the thesis through to submission.
Outline, APA/MLA/Chicago citations, footnotes, bibliographic search, PDF export via LaTeX and a contextual AI that knows your corpus: Extypis holds academic writing from the first source sheet to the final manuscript.
Structure
A thesis holds better when its argumentative architecture stays visible.
Outline, parts, chapters and sections stay connected.
Free outline adapted to dissertation, thesis or paper: reorder chapters and sections without breaking numbering or references.
A writing workshop built for academic texts.
Citations, footnotes, outline, source sheets: everything stays at hand while you write. Light or dark mode, shortcuts, fonts and typography all configurable.
From first reading to manuscript submission.
Extypis supports academic work from the literature review to the final export: structure, cite, write, verify, output.
Step 01
Capture the first intuitions
A hypothesis, a citation, a connection. You capture the material before you've read the whole bibliography.
Step 02
Build the corpus
Sources, books, articles and authors become tracked references, reachable from the text via @mentions.
Step 03
Make the argumentative outline hold
The thesis takes a workable shape: parts, chapters, sections, research question and through-line.
Step 04
Write section by section
You move in the order that serves the argument, with autosave, focus and recoverable versions.
Step 05
Cite and annotate
APA/MLA/Chicago citations, numbered footnotes, linked references: the bibliography builds while you write, not after.
Step 06
Verify before the defence
Logical connectors, passive voice, readability, repetitions and cross-chapter consistency surface before final review.
Step 07
Submit a compliant manuscript
Title page, PDF via LaTeX, academic DOCX: you export a document that meets your lab or publisher's standards.
Thesis blockers are rarely “inspiration” blockers.
They come from source tracking, argumentative rigor, formatting compliance and fatigue. Extypis carries that load with you.
“My citations go everywhere as soon as the bibliography grows.”
As sources accumulate, formatting each reference by hand becomes a time sink and a source of errors.
The Extypis answer
APA, MLA and Chicago citations inserted in one click, bibliography generated automatically, footnotes numbered and linked to the text.
“My argumentative outline turns false the moment I move a chapter.”
When a part shifts, your numbering, internal references and transitions no longer follow.
The Extypis answer
Outline, chapters and sections stay linked at all times: moving a chapter automatically updates the numbering, internal references and transitions. No side outline to maintain by hand.
“Generic AI doesn't understand my topic.”
A broad tool sends back smooth, decontextualized prose that needs almost as much repair as help.
The Extypis answer
Extypis AI has constant, hands-off access to your outline, your written chapters and your sources. No complex prompts to write: consistency with your corpus is guaranteed on every rewrite, check or suggestion. The tool cannot give you an off-topic answer because it already knows your research subject.
“I lose my sources between tabs, PDFs and notes.”
Articles, books, key citations and ideas end up scattered across Zotero, Word and sticky notes.
The Extypis answer
Integrated bibliographic search, source sheets, @mention references in the text: everything stays centralized and traceable. And at worst, your quick notes — anchored to the text, accessible anywhere in one click — catch whatever doesn't have its place yet: a reflex so nothing slips through.
“I stop seeing style flaws after too many passes.”
The more familiar you are with the draft, the less you notice drift: passive voice, weak connectors, repetition, breaks in consistency.
The Extypis answer
Logical connector analysis, passive voice, readability and cross-chapter consistency surface weak signals before submission.
“My final export never looks like a real thesis.”
After months of work, losing a week on LaTeX or DOCX layout feels like falling back to draft level.
The Extypis answer
Title page, front matter, formatted bibliography and PDF export via LaTeX, DOCX, HTML or Markdown: finishing is built in.
Three value blocks instead of one blurry pile of features.
Extypis works as three complementary supports: holding the sources, supporting the argument, then exporting a compliant manuscript.
Your references no longer live in a side file.
Citations, footnotes and bibliographic search are part of the text. You cite while you write, not after.
Bibliographic citations
Academic references with one-click style switching.
Footnotes
Quick insertion, auto-numbering and direct navigation for every note.
Book search
Use ISBNs, titles or URLs to autofill reference metadata.
Snapshots (versions)
Create versions, compare them and restore a previous state.
An AI that knows your thesis, not just your paragraph.
On every generation, Extypis AI reads your outline, your written chapters and your sources. Where a generic AI starts from scratch on every prompt, ours keeps argumentative consistency from introduction to conclusion.
AI writing assistant
Conversational AI assistant in the sidebar, color-coded quotes highlighted in the text and one-click rewriting from any passage.
AI continuity check
AI automatically detects contradictions, forgotten arcs and inconsistencies in your story, and saves the report.
AI-written front/back matter
Preface, afterword, acknowledgements, author bio, back cover blurb: AI drafts them all from your project context.
AI rewriting in your text
Select any passage and let AI suggest a rewording right inside the editor.
The thesis exits compliant, without a finishing week.
Readability, logical connectors, front matter and academic exports: finishing saves time precisely when time is scarce.
Connector analysis
Assess the balance of logical connectors and text flow.
Readability score
Measure how easy or demanding your text is to read.
Passive voice detection
Spots passive voice sentences and highlights them. Shows the percentage of passive voice in the text. Useful for energizing your writing if you tend to overuse the passive.
Front matter and back matter
Preface, afterword, dedication, epigraph, table of contents (at the start or the end?): publishing has conventions no author really learns. Extypis guides you through every editorial fixture — title page, cover auto-cropped to book format, ISBN, copyright, opening and closing sections — and lets you reorder or hide any of them at export.
PDF export (LaTeX)
Generate polished PDFs with true typographic quality.
Multi-format export
Export to PDF, DOCX, EPUB, HTML, Markdown or full archive.

Human support
Got a question? You talk directly to the creator, never a chatbot.
Free to begin, even to finish. Serious when the thesis grows long.
Structure, citation and drafting start without friction. Paid plans mainly extend AI credits, advanced analysis and the depth of use as the thesis becomes more demanding.
The questions academics usually ask before stepping in.
Does Extypis really handle APA, MLA and Chicago citations?
Yes. You insert a citation in one click, choose the style, and the dedicated Tiptap extension formats the reference and feeds the bibliography automatically at the end of the document.
Does Extypis AI really know my thesis?
Yes. On every generation, it relies on your outline, your written chapters and your sources. Where a generic AI starts from scratch on every prompt, Extypis keeps full memory of the corpus so that suggestions stay coherent from introduction to conclusion.
Can I export to PDF via LaTeX?
Yes. PDF export goes through a server-side LaTeX compilation, which guarantees clean academic typography, numbered footnotes and a formatted bibliography.
What about footnotes?
The Tiptap editor includes a footnotes extension: automatic numbering, anchoring in the text, clean export across all formats (PDF, DOCX, EPUB, HTML).
Is the AI the same for free and subscribed users?
No, and that goes for both text and image. On editorial-sensitive tasks (long rewrites, cross-chapter consistency check, pitch, AI assistant), a subscription automatically switches the AI cascade to Claude Sonnet 4.6, the strongest model on French prose. Free users stay on Mistral, Llama, Cerebras and Gemini: very fast and excellent for drafting, more modest on finishing and long-form consistency. For image generation (covers), free users get Flux schnell (fast, standard quality) while subscribers access Flux 1.1 Pro and DALL-E 3 (editorial quality, careful typography and better photorealistic rendering).
Are my texts used to train an AI?
No. Your texts are never sent to the models for training. None of the AI providers used by Extypis (Anthropic, OpenAI, Mistral, Groq, Gemini) has access to your content outside of the punctual API call required for the requested generation. The APIs are configured without training opt-in, and no data is retained on Extypis' side beyond what is strictly required to run the product.
Can I work with co-authors on a thesis?
Yes for exports and version sharing. Truly real-time collaborative editing is part of the upcoming roadmap.
Is this only for academics?
No, but Extypis is particularly strong for thesis, dissertation and paper work: bibliographic citations, footnotes, contextual AI, argumentative analysis and academic-grade exports.
Your thesis deserves better than a 300-page Word doc and a drifting Zotero.
Start with structure and sources, add AI where it genuinely helps, and keep the whole project inside a workspace that holds once the thesis becomes large.
