Availability and support
Hosting : The application runs on a Hetzner VPS (Helsinki, Finland, EU); the database is Neon on AWS Frankfurt (Germany, EU). Some technical subcontractors (Cloudflare, Cloudinary, Resend, Stripe, Neon Inc.) are US companies covered by GDPR safeguards (DPF and standard contractual clauses).
Availability : The service runs on a best-effort basis, with no contractual service level agreement.
Maintenance : Maintenance windows are scheduled and announced whenever possible.
Support : Email support in French and English, with a typical reply within 7 business days.
3. Your account and responsibilities
What you can expect, and what we expect from you.
Creating and securing your account
- • Accuracy : Give truthful, up-to-date information
- • Security : Keep your credentials private; your login is for you alone
- • Notification : Tell us right away about any unauthorized use
Changing your email address
For security reasons — account takeovers are the usual risk — you cannot change your email address yourself from the dashboard. Send any change request to [email protected] from the account's current address. This applies equally to accounts created with an email and password and to those created through Google or GitHub. For subscribers, the new address is passed on to Stripe automatically so billing continues without interruption.
"Note" sheets and exports
Extypis lets you mark a sheet as a "Note" — a strictly personal reminder. Those sheets get special treatment:
- • Never sent to the AI : no AI feature reads or uses their content; the filtering happens on the server.
- • Excluded from your exports : "Note" sheets are automatically left out of PDF, DOCX, EPUB, Markdown, LaTeX, HTML and JSON exports, as well as public publications and online reading. They appear only in the native Extypis export (the .zip full-account backup).
Acceptable use
- • Obey the law : Use the service in line with French and international law
- • Respect other people : No offensive, defamatory or illegal content
- • Security : Do not attempt to break or bypass our security
What is not allowed
- • Infringing copyright or property rights
- • Distributing illegal, offensive or malicious content
- • Attempting unauthorized access to systems or data
- • Unauthorized commercial use or reselling the service
- • Spam, harassment or abusive behavior
4. Intellectual property
Who owns what on the platform.
Your content is yours
- • Ownership : You keep every right in your texts and creations
- • Privacy : Your content stays private by default
- • Control : You decide what gets shared, exported or deleted
What belongs to Extypis
- • The platform, interface, design and proprietary features
- • Trademarks, logo, documentation and help content
- • Technical innovations and proprietary algorithms
The license you grant us
You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, revocable license to host, back up and process your content, solely to provide the service. It gives us no ownership of your work and no right to exploit it commercially.
5. Liability
Where our responsibility lies, and where it stops.
What Extypis is responsible for
- • Putting appropriate technical safeguards in place (HTTPS/TLS, bcrypt password hashing, encryption at rest through Neon)
- • Regular maintenance and fixing reported faults
- • Notifying the CNIL within 72 hours of a data breach (GDPR art. 33) and informing affected users where the risk is high
Limitations
- • The service is provided as is, with no absolute guarantee of availability
- • We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages
- • We are released from liability in cases of force majeure or external incidents
6. Pricing and billing
Commercial terms, prices and how payment works.
Available plans
Extypis offers a permanently free tier and several paid premium options:
- • Free (permanent) : €0 forever — permanent access to the essentials
- • Monthly : €0 a month, cancel anytime — full premium access
- • Yearly : €0 a year (saving €0) — full premium access
- • Payment : Through Stripe (PCI-DSS secure payment)
Billing and refunds
Since Extypis carries no commitment, you can cancel your subscription at any time from your account. There is no automatic refund, except where the law provides one (right of withdrawal).
If you hit a technical problem or an exceptional circumstance, write to us at [email protected]. We look at every request individually.
Monthly AI credits and how they work
Extypis runs on a pool of AI credits shared across every AI feature (chat assistant, pitch generation, continuity checks, ghost completion, enriched dictionary, and so on). The more demanding the operation, the more credits it uses.
- • Free account : 100 AI credits, granted once and never renewed. Enough to try the AI features at standard quality.
- • Essential, monthly : 2,500 AI credits, renewed at each Stripe billing date (which follows your signup date, not the first of the calendar month). Unlocks higher editorial quality (Claude Sonnet) on the sensitive features: back cover, pitch, continuity check, chat assistant.
- • Essential, yearly : 24,000 AI credits released in full on day one, to use freely across the year — use it or lose it, with no intermediate monthly cap.
- • Shared pool : credits are consumed in proportion to what each AI model actually costs (see the privacy policy, section 4 — AI subcontractors).
- • "Note" privacy : sheets marked as "Note" are never sent to AI providers and never take part in any assistance context.
- • No refund on unused credits : regular quota credits left at the end of a cycle are neither carried over nor refunded. If you cancel or change plan, the credits left in the current cycle are automatically converted into a free rollover top-up (no expiry, capped at 24,000 credits per user — see the terms of sale).
AI credit top-ups
Top-up packs bought separately, on top of the quota included in your subscription, are digital content delivered immediately after payment. Top-ups can only be bought by users with an active subscription, and become available as soon as you subscribe. They are therefore non-refundable once credited to the account. Unused credits give no right to a refund, and cannot be converted into money or a discount.
- • No expiry : top-up credits stay attached to the account for as long as it is active.
- • They survive cancellation : top-up credits you bought remain usable after you cancel, until the balance runs out. Subscription quota credits, on the other hand, end with the subscription.
- • Account deletion : if you delete your account, AI credits — whatever their origin or amount — are permanently lost once the 30-day grace period ends, and give no right to any refund, partial or full.
7. Ending the agreement
How you or Extypis can bring the service to an end.
If you end it
- • Delete your account at any time from your space
- • Export your data first — we recommend it before permanent deletion
- • Data is kept for 30 days before irreversible deletion
If Extypis ends it
- • Grounds: breach of these terms, fraudulent or illegal activity
- • 15 days' notice, except in emergencies or after repeated non-payment
- • You can export your data before the account closes
- • You can dispute the decision through [email protected]
8. Changes to these terms
How these terms can evolve.
How you'll be told
Any substantial change is announced by email and inside Extypis at least 30 days before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service counts as acceptance. If you disagree, you can delete your account before that date.
9. Governing law and courts
The legal framework and how disputes are settled.
Governing law
- • French law
- • Compliance with the GDPR and the French Data Protection Act
- • Consumer protection under the French Consumer Code
Settling disputes
- • Amicable resolution comes first
- • European ODR platform: ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr
- • Courts are determined under the French Code of Civil Procedure (notably articles 42 and following for consumer disputes)
- • Contact : [email protected]
