Afterword
A text placed after the main work to offer commentary, context or reflection.
An afterword follows the main work and may discuss its creation, offer a critical perspective or reflect on its later reception. It can be written by the author or another contributor.
Because it comes afterward, it can discuss the ending without shaping the first encounter with the story. It differs from a narrative epilogue, which remains part of the fictional events.
Example
After the final chapter, a researcher explains the historical setting of the novel's locations.
