Book layout
The visual arrangement of a book's pages, including margins, typography, headings and images.
Book layout organizes content on the page through trim size, margins, line width, headings, images and recurring elements. It influences both readability and the character of the edition.
A layout needs testing with representative material, including long headings, notes and dense pages. A print design does not always transfer directly to a reflowable digital format.
Example
The layout allows a wider inner margin and omits running heads on chapter-opening pages.
In the workshop
Test the layout on difficult pages before applying it to the whole book.
