Table of contents
An ordered list of a book's sections with page references or navigation links.
A table of contents lists sections in reading order. It may include parts, chapters and subheadings. Page numbers refer to a particular layout, while digital links provide direct navigation.
Its hierarchy should match the text. Excessive detail can make it difficult to scan. After headings or pagination change, an automatically generated table still needs to be updated and checked.
